So after the excitement died down from the epic announcement of a Superman/Batman film to come, Lionsgate began their hour of panels, starting with “I, Frankenstein”.
Both Aaron Eckhart and Yvonne Strahovski were at the panel, and they talked about the major themes in the film, which centralizes on the concept of immortality and the burden it can be. Visually the film has the same kind of feel that the Underworld films have, and the fact that Bill Nighy is also in it doesn’t hurt.
Also, because the film is based on a graphic novel by Kevin Gevioux, it looks like I’ve some reading to do before it comes out in January, and since Mr. Grevioux did the screenplay as well, I have hopes that if I enjoy the graphic novel that the film will also be awesome!
After that panel wrapped, I got to find out why everyone LOVES Jennifer Lawrence, because the next panel by Lionsgate was The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Now, before I dive into the panel, I hope you’ll indulge me as I provide a bit of context, this panel wasn’t even really on my radar for Comic-Con 2013. I had read The Hunger Games, and it felt like a simpler version of Battle Royale, which I had really liked. Now while I didn’t *dislike* the book per se it didn’t feel that unique, and the only things that stood out to me against Battle Royale were because there were fewer competitors the killing didn’t feel like old news after the 7th person bit the dust, the relationship between Katniss and Prim really touched me because I’m a big sister, and I could relate to Katniss’ choice at the beginning, and finally the relationship between Katniss and Peeta was interesting, but I kept waiting for Peeta to wise up at the end of the book, only to be crushed at the end, and then it just felt kind of sad how oblivious each character had been the whole time… All of that being said, having had some prior knowledge about certain things that go on in the second book, the trailer for the second film blew me away, and one particular scene with a particular dress, brought tears to my eyes and goosebumps to my arms! (and that’s all I’ll say for those who haven’t read the book, or seen the trailer which is below)
Ok, I’ll say one more thing, I’m definitely going to watch the first film now, and read the second book by November 22nd!

Now onto the panel itself, the most enjoyable part of it, and not just because she’s the star of the movie, was Jennifer Lawrence! I now completely understand why everyone loves her.

She’s completely down to earth and when she and Josh Hutcherson were asked how “hot” the kissing is in Catching Fire, she got excited to tell a story about SNOT, and no that’s not a typo. So all that remains to be said, is that between the sequel to Thor, and the sequel to The Hunger Games, November is going to be AWESOME!
